Hazel’s Bakery Through the Years
Hazel’s Bakery was founded in 1940 by Kenneth and Hazel Mullen, all because two people fell in love.
In 1964, at the age of 16 their son, Ken Jr. began working at the bakery. In 1970, Ken Jr. married Marie, whom he had worked alongside at the bakery since 1965. Ken Jr. and his wife retired to the Western part of the state in 2006, and both miss Hazel’s Bakery dearly.
Today, Hazel’s bakery is owned by Steve and Stacey Barton. You can find both of them at the Bakery during the week, with a growing team of bakers, decorators and front counter crew as seasonal business picks up. And, as with most family businesses, if the open sign is on, the owner is there. Steve has been a baker at Hazel’s for over 27 years and his passion for the business comes through in all the confections that come out of his oven. Steve and Stacey are proud to own one of the last true neighborhood bakeries.
